If you weren’t in ministry, what would you be doing? Why?
If I weren’t the Principal of First Baptist Christian School, I would be a full time independent distributor for Premier Designs Jewelry. Premier Designs is a Biblically-based direct service company that has a philosophy, purpose and plan with which I agree. Our goal is to honor God and enrich the lives of others. It is also just a ton of fun!
What’s on your iPod?
I don’t have one.
What’s on your plate for dinner?
Whatever my husband cooks. I am very blessed.
Talk about how your childhood has affected your life today.
I was very close to my paternal Grandparent’s during my childhood and I believe their influence has impacted the life I live today. They are both gone now, but some of the most precious memories I have are from my time with them. Certain smells can bring me right back to their house. If I smell hush puppies and ketchup along with a fresh breeze, I just think it is a Saturday night and Lawrence Welk and Hee Haw should be on the television. As I grew into my college years, I knew I could always drop in at their house. They would take a 5 minute visit or a 2 hour visit. When I had the time on a Sunday morning, I always knew in which pew at church I could find them. One of my favorite things to do was to surprise them by showing up. I look forward to seeing them again one day.
When did you make Jesus your Lord and Savior?
I was five years old when I accepted Christ and then made the decision to be baptized in 5th grade.
Other than Jesus, who has been an influential person(s) in your life?
My paternal grandparents.
Holiday Inn Express or Jellystone Campground?
An all inclusive resort!
What Bible verse best describes you?
One Sunday morning, Pastor Perry did a sermon on forgiving those who had done you wrong. He said that some of us would immediately think of people that had done us wrong. I sat there and really tried to think of someone or something but couldn’t. I am quick to forgive and forget. “Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against one of your people, but love your neighbor as yourself.” Leviticus 19:18
What’s your favorite movie? Why?
My favorite movie has always been the Wizard of Oz. Now as an adult, I can’t stay awake in it. It was always such an exciting movie and when you are a child and there is no such thing as videos, you have to watch it when it comes on the television. No matter where you were in the neighborhood, you had to come home to watch the Wizard of Oz. It was a fun annual event. Once it came out on video, and I watched it so many times, it lost some of its excitement. Now I have enjoyed the movies from Sherwood Pictures, Flywheel, Facing the Giants and I am looking forward to Fireproof.
Other than Jesus, who would you most like to have lunch with? Why?
My grandparents because I miss them.
What’s your secret ambition?
To be better at the everyday things I need to do.
What favorite books are on your shelf?
I have always been an avid reader and have been through many favorite types, but the favorite books on my shelf are my children’s books. I love picture books with beautiful illustrations. This also has to do with the fact that reading to my children is one of my most favorite activities to do.
