Meet Dr. J. Perry Fowler
Senior Pastor
drjpf@kfbc.org

If you weren’t in ministry, what would you be doing?  Why?

I would probably like to be a pediatrician because I enjoy kids and love families!

What’s on your iPod?

A little Brooklyn Tab, Aaron Shust, The Best of Passion, and (believe it or not) some “Boston.”

What’s on your plate for dinner?

Whatever Jan puts on it and I always say thank you. If I go out to eat it is usually Mexican Food from La Parrilla  or if it is my birthday I go to the Cheesecake Factory.

Talk about how your childhood has affected your life today.

My Dad and Mom took me to church faithfully and modeled an authentic relationship with Christ. They lived to serve him and still do! My Dad is the Pastor of a multi-cultural congregation in Jonesboro, Arkansas and my mom serves faithfully beside him everyday investing her life in people. They are amazing and inspiring!

When did you make Jesus your Lord and Savior?

July 30, 1973. I was attending a children’s camp in Lonsdale, Arkansas and sensed God’s presence drawing me to Jesus. I prayed and asked Jesus to come into my life to be my Savior and Lord.

Other than Jesus, who has been an influential person(s) in your life?

Wow! There have been so many. Outside of my parents, people like Lester Hammon and Charlie Cook who were my Sunday School teachers in middle school and Lyle Seltmann who is one of the most passionate missionaries that I know. My wife and her gift of faith has always been awe inspiring and life transforming as well.

Holiday Inn Express or Jellystone Campground?

Definitely Holiday Inn Express!

What Bible verse best describes you?

Exodus 33:15- “Then Moses said, If your presence does not go with us do not send us up from here.”

What’s your favorite movie?  Why?

Funny Movie- “Elf”- I love Christmas and funny Christmas movies. I almost laughed up a lung when I saw it the first time.

Serious Movie- “The Rookie”- I am inspired by people who don’t give up on their dreams.

Other than Jesus, who would you most like to have lunch with?  Why?

Billy Graham. I would love to talk to him about how the Holy Spirit shows up when he preaches. I have seen this first hand all of my life and am amazed with God’s anointing on his life.

What’s your secret ambition?

To hear Jesus say, “Well done.” Jesus doesn’t lie so I know He won’t say it unless He means it.

What favorite books are on your shelf?

Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire by Jim Cymbala

Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby (Even after all these years it’s the most life transforming Bible Study I’ve ever studied)

I am not but I know I Am by Louie Giglio.
